Aşağıdaki örneklerde de görüldüğü gibi iki cümleyi bağlarken and bağlacından önce virgül kullanılması şart değildir. Ayrıca nadiren tercih edilse de noktadan sonra yeni cümle “And” ile başlayabilir.

In spite of ve despite eş anlamlı kelimelerdir ve aralarında kullanım farkı yoktur. Bu iki bağlaç although, though ve even though ile aynı anlama sahip olmalarına rağmen, kullanımları farklıdır. In spite of ve despite’dan sonra isim, zamir ya da Ving (gerund) gelir.
