COMPARATIVE AND SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVES
Karşılaştırma sıfatları (comparative adjectives) adından da anlaşıldığı gibi iki ögeyi karşılaştırmak için kullanılır. Öznedeki ögeyle nesnedeki öge karşılaştırılır. Karşılaştırma sıfatından sonra gelen than kelimesi “-den”, “-dan” anlamına gelir.
Tek heceli sıfatları ve bazı iki heceli sıfatları karşılaştırma sıfatı (comparative adjective) yapmak için sıfatın sonuna -er ekleriz. Böylece sıfata “daha” anlamı katmış oluruz. Üstünlük sıfatı (superlative adjective) yapmak içinse sıfatın sonuna

(KARŞILAŞTIRMA SIFATLARI)
Karşılaştırma sıfatlarını öğrendikten sonra iki ögenin nasıl karşılaştırıldığını görelim. Yukarıda da ifade edildiği gibi öznede ve nesnede bulunan iki öge karşılaştırma sıfatıyla karşılaştırılır. Karşılaştırma sıfatından sonra kullanılan than, “-den”, “-dan” anlamına gelir.

SUPERLATIVE ADJECTIVES
Superlative adjectives karşılaştırma yapmak için kullanılmaz. Bir başka değişle superlative adjective’den sonra cümleye than kelimesiyle devam ederek ikinci bir öge getiremeyiz. Bunun yerine in the world, in my country, in her class, in the city gibi ifadeler kullanarak öznenin nerede en üstün olduğunu belirtebiliriz. Aşağıdaki örnekleri inceleyiniz.
